Changing
technologies require new design strategies in terms of building
systems and structures to accommodate the wellspring of technologies. The
past decade has seen the arrival of the wireless communication
trend which requires a pattern of structures for signal transmission
across the populated regions. It is, for the most part,
a process guided by economies where equipment is concealed within
the envelop of new or existing buildings. Periodically,
feature structures are erected in high profile areas providing
an answer to the technical goal while establishing a recognizable
urban node.
The example here is an exercise in designing a clean, economical structure possessing
aesthetic qualities that allow it to become an acceptable part of the of the
urban fabric. |
